Mirror Android to Chromecast

Android phones can cast their whole screen to a Chromecast or a Google TV. It is built in; no extra app is needed on most phones.

This guide uses the mirroring built into your phone. Phone browsers cannot share the screen, so MHL Mirroring is not needed here.

Step by step

  1. Open Quick Settings

Swipe down twice from the top of the screen.

  2. Tap Cast or Screen Cast

If you do not see it, edit the Quick Settings tiles and add Cast.

  3. Pick the Chromecast

Choose your Chromecast or Google TV and confirm Start now.

  4. Stop casting

Tap Cast again, or the notification, and choose Disconnect.

If it does not work

  • Chromecast not listed: phone and Chromecast must be on the same Wi-Fi, with no guest network isolation.
  • Lag in games: casting adds delay; it is better for photos and videos.

Try MHL Mirroring on your own screens

Open the receiver on the TV, the sender on your computer, and connect with a 6-digit code. Free, peer-to-peer, nothing to install.
